New:: wedding albums!

Tavis & I have been designing up a storm... getting things ready for the upcoming wedding shows. We're now offering 4 album choices with wedding photography {and maybe more options in the future} I snapped some photos and made this layout to include in our booking packets so couples can choose which album they'd like in their collection!

These new examples really look amazing. I'm very happy with the layouts I came up with, and I'm excited to show the albums off at the wedding shows this year :)

Sisters

Every few years these girls have photos taken to frame as Christmas presents for their family. This year they mixed it up a little bit with an urban shoot downtown the day after thanksgiving. I loved the solid colors of the shirts, they really popped against some of the backdrops we chose. They were very willing to do whatever we needed them to... even if it meant cramming all four girls onto one park bench. :) They also got on each others shoulders, which was very impressive. Most couples and families just go for the piggy back, but they just hopped right on! Although it was the end of November, the sun came out to shine for us...! keeping us somewhat warm. Overall, it was a great shoot & very fun photos.

Senior Pics

Well, our blog hasn't had much going on this month. We've been busy with the holidays, traveling, and booking weddings for next year! Here was our last senior shoot from the fall. It was pretty chilly outside, but Becca did great! She had some of the most unique and fun jumping pictures we've ever seen. We started at cascade gardens, then went to downtown Yakima to grab some fun shots.

Christy 2-0-1-0
this girl could be a model. She's got the stuff. When we did her shoot last month she had some great ideas for locations & poses.... so we just went exploring and shooting, and took our ideas and her ideas and ran with it. I love to explore new things - love how it all turned out.

Thanks Christy, you're great!

An image is measured by,,,,

Last Wednesday, just as I was leaving for class, Tavis told me that Chase Jarvis was giving a talk the next day in Portland. {Chase is a world renowned photographer that Tavis and I like to follow} and I was hoping that someday we could meet him:: Thursday was our lucky day. We spontaneously made the 4 hour trip from eburg to ptown and got to spend some time with our friend whitney & also go to the seminar! I think I enjoyed this little trip even more because it wasn't planned, and it didn't have to be perfect. We arrived, I had my first eggnogg latte of the season, and we headed to the Polara studio for the seminar. I didn't have any expectations, we just wanted to see Chase. :)

There were more iphones at this seminar than I'd ever seen in a single room before. Chase just developed an app for the iphone called "best camera" -which goes along with the book he just published with all this iphotography called "the best camera is the one that's with you"

Tavis and I love taking iphone pics wherever we're at. Of course they're not as good as pictures we can get with our DSLR, but it's just about taking pictures, noticing things, remembering moments. "Inherently, we all know that an image isn’t measured by its resolution, dynamic range, or anything technical about cameras or photos. An image is measured by the simple—sometimes profound, other times absurd or humorous or whimsical—effect that it can have upon us. If you can see an image, it can move you. One button. Always with you. Incredibly accessible. There’s no losing sight of the moment in front of you by way of complicated gear." - http://www.thebestcamera.com/book.html

He talked about the book & app, but mostly just told us to "shoot what you love" - He wasn't there to be an "inspirational speaker" but it did get me excited about many new things. Sometimes I get so caught up in getting work done, the logistics, and the technicalities, I forget about my own creative endeavors. He encouraged everyone to create & share, and when you're doing what you love, people will see that in your work and artists develop a community of supporters without even trying too hard. I'm not going to worry so much about marketing and advertising and trying to figure out what people are looking for. Instead, I'm going to branch out even further to shoot and film more, take more chances, go on more adventures, see things differently, be more spontaneous, challenge myself to be creative in new ways. I'll share my findings and we'll see how it goes :) Thanks Chase, we like you. I feel inspired.
