Sneak peek time from Molly & Cody's June 23rd wedding! When I think about this wedding, I will always remember the colorful glasses that made their way into pictures throughout the whole day from beginning to end. You can even see some of the girls wearing them while getting ready. :) This wedding also introduced me to Caroll College in Helena Montana. It's where the couple met and there were tons of students/alumni at the wedding! Molly's family is from the area and the reception was at La Salle High School in Union Gap, where Molly & her dad both work! Yesterday was actually her parents' anniversary as well which is really neat that they share an anniversary now. I really loved the bright pool blue and white color for the wedding- It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day!

how to prepare to shoot a wedding // a wedding photographer's checklist

If you're asking, "how do I prepare to shoot a wedding?" or "What do I need to bring to shoot a wedding?" here is my wedding photo preparation list!

The night before: 

• clean/organize camera gear
• clear memory cards
• print off shots lists, timelines, etc.
• pack my camera bag
• gas up the car
• scout out photo locations if necessary
• wash our work clothes
• paint my nails (this is optional, but something I like to do, haha)  ;-) 
• get a good night's rest!

What we pack in our camera bag: (Kelly Moore's green hobo bag)

• 16-35mm, 100mm, 15mm fisheye (our 50mm & 70-200 are on our camera bodies)

•  business cards
  

•  timeline, shots list, vendor info, names of family, names of bridal party

•  memory cards in a memory card wallet. (We usually bring about 6- 8GB & 4- 16GB)

•  Miscellaneous things like extra flash batteries, camera battery, gum, chapstick, bobby pins, safety pins, scissors (you'd be surprised how often the girls need them while getting ready) tylonel, allerclear, tums, etc.

•  And last but certainly not least.... SNACKS!

• extra AA batteries for flashes
• Canon Speedlight 580EX II (4)
• AlienBee SB800 
• Sto-Fen Omni Bounce 
• PocketWizard Plus II

The morning of the wedding we:

• Eat a good breakfast
• Drink lots of water for hot summer days!

Yakima Family Photographer // a Randall park adventure!

Meet Brad and Sarah's daughter Gracie... a lively 18 month old that kept us moving the entire evening! Everything you see here was completely natural and taken in the split second that she was looking our way. Although the session was very fast paced with chasing the little one around, we were able to get a lot of great shots of candid family interaction as they played together, picked leaves, went on slides, and hung out with the ducks. Randall Park is one of my favorite local photo spots this time of year with tons of variety and color. (and no mosquitoes as far as I know!)
