As cliche as it may sound, here's the honest truth: Photos last a lifetime. Professional photography is an investment in your family's memories, and a great photographer will capture moments that you and your family will cherish forever.... long after the moment has passed.

Here are the top 5 excuses I hear about why people put off taking their family photos:

#5 - "Life's been so busy and I haven't gotten around to scheduling." Don't put it off another year!!!! Time flies, life is always busy, but you will never regret taking one hour of your life to capture some fun and candid moments of your family.
#4 - "I want to wait until I'm done having kids before getting a family portrait" We know that family photos are an investment, and you may not want to hang a 40x60 on the wall if it's missing half of your future family, but TRUST ME, you will not regret having photos of your first couple of kids when they're young as well. You simply just can't have those moments back!!
#3 - "It's hard to get everyone in my family all together" Yes, multiple schedules are hard to coordinate, so plan in advance! We never know what tomorrow may bring, and you don't want to regret putting off family photos so long that you no longer have a loved one with you any longer.
#2 - "Professional photography is too expensive" Simply put, you’re not just paying for the actual photograph; you’re paying for time and expertise of the photographer. Sure, the walmart studio may be a fraction of the cost, but you're sacrificing quality, flexibility, diversity and expertise of a custom photo session with a professional photographer. Professionals do a lot more than just show up and take great photos of your family. They are project managers, accountants, marketers, child tamers, receptionists, graphic design artists, production workers, and sales people. They invest a lot of energy and go the extra mile to get that perfect image for clients.
#1 - "I want to wait until I lose more weight." Awesome! Set a goal and a date and let's book a session. If the session date rolls around and you haven't lost a single pound, don't worry or back out! Despite your weight or your appearance, your kids still love you and will look back and cherish having memories photographed with you. We have photographed people of all ages, shapes and sizes, so we have techniques to make you look your best, even if you're feeling self conscious.

I met Caitlin & Curtis through one of Caitlin's bridesmaids (Thanks Lindsey!) We shot their engagement photos in April around Yakima at a carnival and some other cute locations. It's so great when we have an opportunity to photograph the couple before the wedding during an engagement session.
