Waiting for childbirth is a planner's worst nightmare, but biggest blessing in the end!

We've had November 6, 2014 on the calendar since we found out about our baby 8 months ago, and yet this year has just flown by and I cannot believe we will be parents any day now. We've read the books, asked our friends and attended the classes, but I don't think we will ever truly be ready for child delivery and parenthood. It's such a crazy thing! It's all hard to wrap my brain around!! I'm still amazed that there is a human inside of me, it's such a miracle.

Just in case you didn't know his about me, I'm an extreme planner. There's a dot on every single day of my iPhone calendar, and almost all day of every day is scheduled. I don't think it ever dawned on me how big of a struggle this whole waiting game would be when it got close to baby time..... Let me tell you, it's been really, really HARD. Can't I just know the exact day and time to schedule this childbirth so I can plan my work and life accordingly!? God has been using this experience to stretch and grow me, that's for sure. In the past week I came to a point where I felt like God was saying, "Amy would  you just shut up and trust me?" I've wasted  too much time worrying this past month, and not enough time simply soaking in my "last days" as a family of 2.

FOR YEARS I worried about how I would be able to be pregnant and shoot weddings, or run a business with a family, but so far it's all worked out just fine! There hasn't been a single obstacle that couldn't be overcome. God has been so faithful to us this year, I can't help but point all blessings back to Him because I know I couldn't have survived the physical and emotional roller coaster this year alone! There are so many ways God has taken care of me this year.
  1. Africa: I found out about the pregnancy days before leaving for Zambia. While the nurses advised me to stay home, I knew God had plans for us there and so we went in faith and despite some tiredness and sickness.... this pregnant gal survived!
  2. Timing of Pregnancy: God's perfect timing. Sick during a slower season, 2nd tri burst of energy during our busy time, wrapped up our last scheduled wedding for the year 3 weeks before I was due. Timing couldn't be anymore perfect! We didn't have to cancel or change a single wedding.
  3. Healthcare. I've spent more time in the doctor's office this year than every before. Between getting ready for our trip, a kidney stone, and a pregnancy from start to finish in 2014, I'm hitting my deductible early which is AWESOME to have so many upcoming hospital bills taken care of! Thank you Jesus that this all happened in one calendar year!
  4. An amazing, silly, fun, supportive husband. Tavis is seriously the best. He has been such a hard worker to pick up the slack and take care of me even when I wasn't the.... nicest to be around. :) I appreciate him so much! We had a lot of fun at weddings this summer :)

So in our final days of preparing for this baby I just wanted to take a moment and be thankful. God has given us a precious gift of a baby that we will meet any day now. He's calling me into new territory this year but with His help I know we can do it. There has been a song ringing in my head all year with these new changes, it's called "Oceans" by Hillsong.

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
