Spring Wedding at Cascade Gardens in Yakima, WA || Amanda + Douglas

Lachelle and Keith photographed this wedding at Cascade Gardens in Yakima, WA. Amanda and Douglas were so cute. It was evident that they had a close friendship and lasting love and that they were both close with their families. There were several special elements that made this wedding unique and memorable.

As the morning progressed, it was fun to see how the family members engaged with each other.  Everyone was joyfully bustling around getting ready for the day. Amanda and Douglas' dog Rugger was the ring bearer for the day and wore his cute purple bow tie like a champ. :) He was a very friendly pooch but he was also a bit camera shy. He would run up to us to say hello, and then, when we would pull out our cameras, he would back away. :) Amanda and her father had a beautiful and emotional first look with each other at the beginning of the day. Amanda is the only daughter out of three brothers. Sincere joy was the "cherry on top" of each moment of the day.

Now, wedding days are momentous in and of themselves...still, there was something that made this wedding even more momentous than others. During the cake cutting, Amanda and Douglas had everyone gather around. They thanked everyone for coming and then they cut three pieces of cake. Douglas held them up saying, "This one is for me, this one is for Amanda, and this one is for the one coming October, 2015!!! We're expecting!!!" WOW! The room erupted with cheers! What a special way to announce a pregnancy!

Staci's Catering provided a delicious reception meal and the celebration continued with dancing into the night. Another touching element of the day was the first dances. The bride and groom were absolutely blissful as they danced together. The groom and his mother expressed heartfelt love for each other as they danced, and the bride and her father cried tears of joy and affection during the entire song. Oh yes! And did we mention we had sunshine, wind, rain and hail? It was quite the day!

Amanda and Douglas, we loved being part of your wedding celebration! We wish you the best in your life together!

Sarah + Drew || Engagement Photography in Yakima, WA

Walt Disney once said, " When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably." It's evident that Sarah and Drew believe in each other all the way, implicitly and unquestionably. When we photographed these two, we knew it would be all too appropriate to open their blog with a quote from Walt Disney, as Disneyworld is one of Sarah and Drew's shared interests and joys {you'll see the evidence of this as you browse through the blog. ;)}. Sarah and Drew were so bright and it was obvious that they had a great friendship in addition to a playful and romantic spark.

These two had been friends for a while before they started dating and Drew knew everything Sarah liked and wanted for a great first date when he took her on it. They have great natural chemistry and our engagement session was full of laughter and many playful interactions. Drew proposed one day while they were swinging at a park. He jumped off the swing, got down on one knee and asked the question.

We are thrilled for you two! Congratulations Sarah and Drew! ;)

Spring Engagement Session in Yakima, WA || Maria + Ruben

It is always refreshing to see two people who love each other deeply, and are also best friends who love to have fun with each other. This is certainly what we picked up from our time with Maria and Ruben. There were a lot of laughs during our time together. We enjoyed photographing Maria and Ruben's engagement session in the soft spring sunlight, blossoming orchards and budding trees. We look forward to photographing their wedding!

A Whimsical Fun Wedding in Yakima, WA || Katy + Andrew

Have you ever heard the phrase, "We've been together so much that we complete each other's sentences?" Although we didn't necessarily hear Katy and Andrew finishing each other's sentences, it was evident that their thoughts and their hearts were functioning on the same wavelengths....except when it came to sharks and bears. That's right! :) Before their wedding, Katy and Andrew had a debate that questioned if a bear and a shark were in a fight, who would win? The debate went unsettled, so they took a poll in their wedding invitations and asked people to place their vote when they sent in their RSVP. There a cute display of the responses at the wedding. We're still not sure if the debate was ever resolved, but it surely resulted in lots of fun and laughter!

Speaking of laughter...these two love to laugh! And Katy's laughter is so contagious. Their day was filled with so much joy! Their first look was in a little forest in a neighbors yard where Katy used to play when she was a kid. It was a perfect April day complete with happy chirping birds and no wind.

The decorations were tasteful, the flowers whimsical, the bride and groom were beaming and the guests were elated. Other fun details of the day include the homemade bridesmaid dresses from Etsy, the first dance (as the bride and groom are excellent dancers and chose a blend of songs and different dances), the toasts and the laughter. During the toasts, the father of the bride commented that Katy is very thorough and meticulous, so he was certain she chose the right man. :) It was evident throughout the entire day that this family was very closely knit. We had the privilege of photographing the wedding for the bride's brother a few years ago too and it was great to spend time with the family and see so many familiar faces.
