There were so many cherished items and moments during Abby and Chris' wedding this weekend. The bride followed the bridal tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a six pence for her shoe! :) Now, let me tell you just a little bit about the beauty behind the items Abby chose for this tradition...the bride's engagement ring was from 1907 and was inherited from her great great aunt. The necklace the bride wore was a gift from her grandfather to her grandmother in 1972. The six pence that Abby wore in her shoe had also been worn on the wedding shoes of her sister and her sister-in-law. And the ring bearer pillow was crafted from material from the bride's dress So much beautiful symbolism and heritage!
The bride and groom met three years ago in classes at the University of Washington. Both of them were studying biology and they caught each other's attention! They were engaged in February and celebrated their marriage on August 1, 2015. Abby and Chris are such a wholesome couple. Abby has the most beautiful smile and is so sweet, and Chris is genuine, kind, and gentlemanly. She loves bugs and he loves birds. The groom commented of his bride, "She was the first person I had ever seen (who was not four) who gets so excited about bugs." You'll notice from the photographs that the bride had a dragonfly broach pinned to her bouquet and birds and bird cages were commonly seen in decorations. Both the bride and groom are very close with their families and most of their bridal party was composed of their siblings! It's also incredible that every member of the bridal party was from a different state!
Another fact that must be mentioned is that this bride was very talented and very crafted. This wedding was her DIY project and she dreamt it up and executed her dream perfectly. She made the centerpieces, the bouquets and added so many elegant touches to the ceremony and reception. The wedding colors were navy blue and light pink with accents of yellow and gold. Mystique Ranch in Issaquah, WA was a charming location for the festivities and Perfect Pair Catering presented a delicious reception meal.
Abby, Chris, and families...what a pleasure it was to spend the day with you and capture the moments of such a beautiful wedding day! We wish you the best!
