"Ut oh, CAR"

Yesterday we played in the road a little bit. We've never been to this spot for photos before, but I stumbled upon it last night and couldn't pass it up. I love the colors & the scenery! There's something spunky about spontaneous pictures like these where you only have 20 seconds to snag a shot before one of us yells, "CAR" and we have to scurry out of the way. Don't judge me because I take seniors out in the road - cuz look at these photos.... it's worth it!! :)

Then we also have some non-road shots that turned out pretty stellar.

We will review your application and get back to you on April 1 when we've made the selections. We have a limited number of model rep opportunities, so don’t delay! Spread the word about this great opportunity!

{General Questions}
Q: When do the sessions take place?
A: One complementary senior mini session will be booked for the representative in April 2011, the other can be in the late summer or fall.

Q: Why does one session take place this Spring, while they're juniors?
A: Many seniors book their portrait sessions for the summer right after Junior year.... so we want to get our reps their cards to hand out before summer vacation. The second session is when they'll really "feel" like a senior during their senior year :)

Q: How many senior reps do you have each year?
A: We accept 2-5 senior reps per year, no more than one per high school

Q: Do the reps receive prints? What is a print credit?
A: The senior reps receive the two complimentary sessions and 30 edited images in an online gallery. All prints are sold separately. For each friend they refer though, they'll receive a $25 print credit, which can be used on any of our professional prints and products.

Q: Is there a limit on amount of referrals & print credit earned?
A: No, refer away! There is no limit on how much print credit you can earn as a representative. Credits will only be issued when a referred senior's session is complete and all fees are paid.

Q: When will you announce the chosen reps?
A: We will make our selections after all of the applications have come in (through March 31) and announce the representatives on April 1, 2011.

Behind the Lens Part 4 {34}

For this "behind the lens" I have a video to share! Not sure if Tavis & Dustin even knew I was filming.... I shot these video clips with my 5D mk ii. Excuse my focusing problems and my crazy bursts of laughter. :)

Here's the shots you just saw being taken:

As you can see... the video I took was with natural light and you couldn't even tell that there was a pretty blue sky. Using the flashes, Tavis was able to expose both the subject and the background for a more dynamic picture. Since Tavis specializes in flash photography and I shoot with natural light, we each focus on different things and our clients get the best of both worlds!

Senior Pictures in Yakima

Name: Megan D.
School: West Valley High School, Class of 2011
Senior Photo Spots: downtown Yakima, Yakima Arboretum

It just happened to be 15 degrees the day of this shoot, but Megan pulled it off well. Tavis and I are out there completely bundled with pocket warmers, and she's just dressed in normal clothes freezing her buns off! For this shoot we took photos at one spot, warmed up in the car for a minute, went to another spot, warmed up again.... It wasn't the normal wandering around photo shoot, we definitely picked our spots from the car and then tried to hurry so we could hop back in!

Here are my favorite snowy senior pics:

Yakima Senior Photos:: Eric Gravbrot

Eric is home-schooled & all about Golf. He plays golf for west valley and hopes to play all the way through college too. We did his photos on his home turf - the Yakima Country Club - where he's been playing since he was a little kid. We also went to McAllister Field down at the Yakima airport because Eric has been doing his flying lessons there.

For our senior sessions we love to include things that showcase the personality and interests of each specific senior. We never want two sessions to be exactly alike so we never go to the same spots or make seniors do the same things because everyone is different!

2011 Senior Pictures :: Dustin Jones

Dustin is a very high energy senior, and such a nice kid. I think a lot of seniors go into their session not knowing exactly what to do or what to expect... but by the end of this session Dustin was totally rockin it. He played a little guitar for us, and even told us his favorite knock knock joke. I think it was the joke he kept telling himself so he could keep himself laughing during the session. :)

We started the session in downtown Yakima, and ended out at his friend's house way out on Summitview. There was a tall grass field with some water running by so as we're shooting I feel a wet spot on the bottom of my foot that won't go away. (I'm wearing flip flops) So I took off my shoe, and there it was. a SLUG. (yuck yuck yuck) - I quickly became disgusted and tried to wipe it off on the grass. That slime just doesn't leave! As I'm freaking out trying to clean off my foot and shoe, a SPIDER runs across my foot, and I'm like oh my goodness, as if this situation wasn't bad enough, now there are spiders everywhere, lol. So anyway, it was quite the adventure out there in the field. :) Here are some of the shots from his session:

Yakima Senior Photographer:: Taryn class of 2011

My favorite thing about Taryn's session was her laugh. She was so fun to joke around with because I just loved listening to her laugh!! I was really excited to run into this vibrant yellow picnic table.... it looks great with her outfit and with the scenery. I love colorful senior pics!!
